FLAMINGO'S SOUL, © Alessandra Meniconzi, Switzerland, 1st Place, Open, Wildlife, 2017 Sony World Photography Awards I am not a wildlife photographer, but the first time I saw the flamingos in the shallow waters of Walvis Bay, on the Namibian coast in Summer 2016, I was really excited. Walvis Bay lagoon is synonymous with flamingos and their beauty and elegance really inspired me. There were no limits for my imagination; I watched them from early morning till the end of the day. These fascinating pink birds made me use up all the space on the photographic memory cards very quickly.
